FPC Softball Preview

It has been almost 9 months since the last pitch was thrown of the 2011 FPC Softball season, and as spring is upon us in Missoula, a new season is about to begin. Many of the team is back from last year, and there have been a few key additions that should strengthen both the lineup and the defense. Coach Bucholtz is back after a 2011 campaign that saw the team finish with a 3-5 regular season record and a postseason record of 1-2. 2011 was the third consecutive year in which FPC won at least one postseason game, with 2010 being the banner year as the team reached (but lost) the championship game in the Missoula Christian Softball Association D League (MCSA).

First pitch is at 7:30pm on Friday, April 20th, as the tall 6'6 righty Bob Hendrix takes the mound for FPC. The home opener is against team "Refuge," and while little is known about this new league team, they ought to give everyone a run for their money. Join us at Fort Missoula Field #2 for the home opener, and you can follow updates and statistics all year long at the Mr. Bucholtz Blog.

Game notes:

This is the 4th strait year that Righty Hendrix will be the opening night pitcher for FPC. First Pres's opening day record is 1-2 since 2009. This is Bucholtz's 3rd full year as manager of FPC. He enters Friday night's game with a regular season coaching record of 7-9.

Here is a breakdown of First Pres's last four seasons:

2009: 1-7 record. 2-2 postseason record (Managed by Coach Thomas)
2010: 4-4 record. 2-3 postseason record
2011: 3-5 record. 1-2 postseason record

The team welcomes back veterans from the 2010 campaign Tobin Shearer and Stacy Keogh, and new rookies Carl Miller and Wes Bowman.
